Amazon starts selling smart grocery carts to other retailers
·1 min
Amazon plans to expand the availability of its smart grocery carts, known as Dash Carts, to other retailers. Currently being tested in select stores in Kansas and Missouri, the carts use computer vision and sensors to track items and update the total price in real time. This move follows a similar strategy to Amazon’s cashier-less technology, Just Walk Out, which was first launched in its Go convenience stores and then sold to third-party retailers. Despite facing layoffs, Amazon remains optimistic about the future of these technologies in stores with a curated selection of items.
