Apple faces significant issues under the European Union’s Digital Markets Act, according to Margrethe Vestager, the bloc’s competition chief. The EU has opened an investigation into Apple, along with Alphabet and Meta, under the new legislation aimed at regulating Big Tech. Vestager expressed surprise at the suspicions of Apple’s non-compliance, particularly in relation to blocking businesses from informing users about alternative products or subscriptions outside of the App Store. The conclusions of the probe are expected to be revealed soon. If found in breach, Apple could face fines up to 10% of their global annual turnover.
