In New York’s wine industry, a well-regarded sommelier, known for his work at top establishments, is now gaining attention for his advocacy for people with disabilities. After becoming paralyzed in a car accident, he co-founded a nonprofit called Wheeling Forward to support those with disabilities. Through another initiative, Wine on Wheels, he raises funds and awareness for the inclusion of disabled individuals in the hospitality industry. Last year, he opened a restaurant called Contento in East Harlem, which has become a symbol of accessibility in dining. The sommelier also opened a wine and spirits shop with his wife in Manhattan. In his daily routine, he starts his mornings early, finding solace in meditation and setting aside time for himself.
