Net neutrality is back as FCC votes to regulate internet providers

The US government has reinstated net neutrality regulations that were rescinded during the Trump administration. The new rules, adopted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), prevent internet service providers (ISPs) from manipulating internet speeds and blocking users’ internet traffic. The FCC now has greater regulatory power over the broadband industry and can override state or local policies that conflict with the federal net neutrality rule. The move is seen as an effort to reassert the FCC’s authority and protect consumer rights. Industry groups are expected to challenge the rules in court.
