The Dutch government is expanding export restrictions on advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment, including more of ASML’s machines. Additional types of chipmaking tools will now require companies to apply for a license from the Dutch government to export their equipment outside the country. The decision to expand the restrictions was made for security reasons, due to increased security risks associated with the export of this specific manufacturing equipment in the current geopolitical context. This comes after the Dutch government introduced its first major export restrictions on advanced semiconductor equipment exports last year.
