A.I.-Backed Phone Calls Fail to Garner Support in Political Campaigns #

A candidate running for election in Ohio’s Seventh Congressional District tried using A.I.-backed voice technology to make personalized phone calls to voters. However, the voters overwhelmingly rejected the calls. The A.I. program made almost 1,000 calls in just five minutes, but most recipients hung up within seconds upon realizing they were speaking with an A.I. volunteer. The unsuccessful outcome reflects a general reluctance in the political sphere to embrace A.I. technology. Despite the proliferation of A.I. tools offered to political campaigns, only a few candidates have adopted them, and even fewer are public about it.
